The plate arrives before you expect it, and bigger than you expect.
That first look. The little laugh, the phone that comes out for a picture, the fork that goes in before anyone has finished the sentence. That is the moment Lucio cooks for. Six plates to know by name, cooked the second you order them.

Il Cuoco · Lucio and Jessica
Not just a restaurant. A place that treats you like family.
I am Lucio. I am Italian, and I stand at the stove for every plate myself. Jessica, my wife, carries it to your table and remembers how you like it by the second visit. Between two pans I come over to see how you are. Most nights I get a smile back. If you arrive late and hungry, the stove stays on. If you are ten, say so: the long table fits, and there is always a solution. Every day, from 11 in the morning to the last plate at 22.30. That is our family, and you are welcome in it.
Il Segreto · The secret
Most of what you taste has probably travelled further than you did.
La ricetta segreta
Five things Lucio does not talk about
- Guancialefor the carbonara. Pork cheek, not bacon, cured the way Rome does it.
- Pecorinoand egg yolk. No cream, ever. The sauce is patience.
- Prosciutto di San Danielesliced at the counter, a minute before it reaches you.
- Bottargafor the vongole. Cured roe, the sea on your fork.
- Vino italianoItalian wines, all from home, chosen to go with the plate. Pick your own, or ask what goes best with your dish.
Nobody talks about it. You will notice with the first bite.

Where do I find real Italian carbonara in Canggu?
At Artista Cucina on Padang Linjong. We cook it the Roman way: egg yolk, pecorino, black pepper and guanciale that comes in from Italy. No cream, no bacon. Guests who grew up with it say it tastes like home.
Is there pizza at Artista Cucina?
No. We are a pasta kitchen. Quality is everything to us, and pizza on top of the pasta would be too much for one stove and one pair of hands. So: no pizza, and pasta you will still think about tomorrow.
Can you cook something that is not on the menu?
Yes. An allergy, vegetarian, a dish you miss from home: tell Jessica when you order, and Lucio adapts the plate or cooks it his way. Most nights we also have a special on the board that never makes it to the card, from whatever came in that morning.
Is there vegetarian or vegan Italian food at Artista Cucina?
Yes. Plates marked veg on the menu are vegetarian, the Insalata Catalana is vegan, and the burrata comes without mortadella on request. For everything else, tell us and we adapt it gladly.
We are a bigger group. Is there a table for a group or a birthday?
Yes. One message to Jessica with the number of guests and the date, and the long table is yours. Say it is a birthday, and we set the table for it before you arrive. Our large pasta portions are made for sharing, so a group can taste half the card between them.
Is it possible to have Lucio cook privately at my home?
Yes. Lucio comes to your villa in Canggu and cooks for you and your guests: a private dinner, a birthday, a family evening at home. Message Jessica on WhatsApp with the date, the number of guests and what you would like to eat, and we plan the evening with you.
Is Artista Cucina a good place for a romantic dinner in Canggu?
A small, quiet room on Padang Linjong, candles on the counter, easy to talk: our guests write exactly that. Tell Jessica it is a special evening, and we set the table for it before you arrive.
Is the tiramisù homemade?
Yes. Lucio makes our tiramisù himself every morning, and dozens of guests mention it in their Google reviews.
Are children welcome at Artista Cucina?
Yes, most welcome. Tell Jessica how many are coming, and we set the table for them before you arrive.
Can I pay by card?
Yes. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and China UnionPay, credit or debit, and contactless with your phone. Cash is fine too, but you do not need to carry it.
Is there parking for scooters?
Yes, and free of charge. Scooters park right in front of our door on Jl. Canggu Padang Linjong, and there is free street parking as well.
Is there gluten-free food?
Some plates, yes: ask Jessica which ones on the day. Our pasta stays pasta, there is no gluten-free pasta.
